Estimation of fuel consumption and selection of the most carbon-efficient route for cold-chain logistics

An eco-friendly supply chain (SC) is greatly determined by travel economy and fuel consumption rate. This research considered these two critical factors explored the relationship between vehicle loads, developed mathematical models in cold-chain logistics (MMCCL) to determine carbon footprint logistics. Longer routes are more prone degrade food quality endanger environmental safety producing contents. Considering this fact, we aimed reduce emissions while maintaining quality. First, an empirical SC was divided into three possible routes, namely, single-route transportation (SRT), multiple-route (MRT-I MRT-II). Later, proposed MMCCL model deployed on each route most carbon-efficient found SRT as fuel-efficient than MRT-I MRT-II a margin of 64.52% 12.78%, respectively. resulted reduction cutting significant amount making safe. The results were thoroughly justified evaluated with appropriate case study context west southern part Bangladesh.
